Ann Curry Leaves The Today Show

After much speculation that NBC was plotting Ann Curry’s exit from the Today show, the journalist says she will announce her departure on Thursday’s episode.

“[It’s] going to be a bit of a tough day,” Curry, 55, tells USA Today. “I’m going to have to tell our viewers. That’s what makes me more emotional than anything. I don’t want to leave them. I love them. And I will really miss them.”

Curry replaced Meredith Vieira as Today’s co-host last year. Her short tenure was plagued with reports of a lack of chemistry with co-host Matt Lauer and the suggestion that her journalistic skills are better suited for reporting in the field.
