The candidates, both Republicans and Democrats found some common ground in that the two main issues in their districts seemed to be Public Safety/Crime and Infrastructure.  The candidates talked about the problems of abandoned houses, problems which are much stronger in older neighborhoods in the four districts. Though in the Lawrence Geist area the problems of homes built cheaply during the 1990’s are problems of foreclosures which leads to houses abandoned by their owners back to their banks and lenders who don’t keep up the property. The condition of streets and bridges in the four districts and the challenge of finding funds to fix up those roadways is a major issue all candidates talked about.  Listeners     brought up those issues along with poor street lighting in neighborhoods as well.
